It's over. It's all over
Bloody hell.

That's not entirely just my sentiment today, that's also a prediction for our future. I'm not going to get too much into here because I think it deserves it's own Rambling. When that's done, I'll link it in here.

But for now... I'm jsut kinda sad. I'm over being mad and confused. I'm just kinda sad. This is a sad day for America and for the world. Not jsut the Democrats. But for all those people in the blue states, you know the people that live on the coasts, in or near the big city, those with the higher incomes and higher IQs (according to some websites), those who think outside the Book... for all those people, including myself, this is a sad day.

T minus one day
By this time tomorrow, the election results will be really close to not being in entirely. My prediction is another disaster like 2000. You remember that, don't you? When Florida was such a complete mess because of hanging chads, butterfly ballots, and disenfranchised voters? When the United Nations wanted to do an official review of our election because there were so many problems? BTW, Mr. Bush refused them that request, which was the first of many steps back away from being a full and legitimate participant in the U.N.

This year won't be any different. In fact, I'm betting it's worse. Tomorrow night, I'll be at an election party, hoping that Kerry is announced as the president-elect. And I can almost guarantee that the results will not be finalized tomorrow. There have been too many problems. I suppose that's why I haven't been writing as much as I planned about the process. It got me fed up. I was tired of the election a month before it happened. So tired of hearing the buzz words and catch phrases, the talking points that were spewed forth by both candidates and the press. And the debates were damn near useless. The entire format needs to be changed. At the very least, every election year, we should have a televised 4 hour conversation between the candidates. No moderator, no questions, no two-minute time limit. Let's face it, how the hell can you legitimately discuss the disaster that is the war in Iraq in under two minutes? We don't need to ask them questions, they know what they want to say, and what they want to ask of each other. And their behavior with each other is a much better barometer of their personalities and abilities to express their ideas.

But besides all that rubbish, we have bigger problems with the election itself. In my home town of Las Vegas, a group called Voter Outreach that was hired by the Republican committee to register voters was known to be throwing out or tearing up Democratic registrations after the person left. So that voter will undoubtedly show up to cast his vote for Kerry, all proud to be participating in his country's election process, and will be turned away from the voting booth because they are, in fact, NOT registered and eligible.

And this is just here. They're doing it in towns in many of the other swing states too. And they're not the only ones. In other states, people are receiving phone messages that sound rather official. One pretends to be from Democrats, calling voters, telling them in a recorded message that John Kerry plans to give gays the right to marriage. The message says that it's an important issue, and a right that we all want gays to have, so when you vote, remember to give gays the right to marry by voting for Kerry. Now, personally, I think gays SHOULD be allowed to marry, but that's a different Rambling entirely. John Kerry, while he agrees that marriage should be reserved for heterosexual couples, thinks gays should have the right to civil unions. But the sad truth is that all too many ignorant schmucks in this country think that gays should NOT be allowed to marry, nor have civil unions, and likely, have any civil rights at all. So, when undecided, uninitiated voters get that phone call, and their homophobia sets in, that's one more vote for Bush.

And Florida is already a disaster. There have already been many documented problems with the early voting. So guess what ... It's going to be ANOTHER long and arduous process just to count to fucking votes. Nationwide stupidity.

So there's my prediction about the election. As to who's going to win... I have NO idea. Honestly. It's too close to tell. Obviously I'm hoping that Kerry wins. I'm terrified of where Dubya is going to lead this country in another four years.

When Bush the Senior didn't go into Iraq to take down Saddam, one of th prevailing reasons was that we had no idea who was going to take over that country next, and what kind of problem they would be for us. They said "better the devil you know than the devil you don't." Well, in this election of the lesser of two evils, I'll take my chances with the Devil I don't know. Because the one I do needs to go.
