The Vice-Presidential Debate
What a slug-fest that was, eh? Gloves are off, and Cheney's coming out swinging. Not surprising though, is it? What WAS surprising was that Edwards came right back at him without reserve.

I'm calling this one a draw. I don't think there's too much else to say.

There was one event which I saw differently than someone I met recently. I saw this as a truly genuine moment shared between the two men. When they were discussing the issue of gay marriage, Edwards said how he believes that Cheney and his wife truly love their gay daughter, and he admires the strength it takes to accept it and talk about it in public, and in politics, as they do. Cheney's sole response was to the tune of "thank you, it's much appreciated."

Now, someone I met recently saw it differently. He saw it as a jab from Edwards to Cheney; something along the lines of "Hey, the vice-president's daughter's a dyke." He thought it was said with a smirk and a tone of sarcasm. Maybe it's a matter of persective, but I didn't see it that way. Anyone else have an idea?

In the overall scheme of things, if I had to pick someone who made the most progress for his team, it would be Chaney. He may have effectively stopped the slide Bush was in after the first debate. Edwards made no great gains or suffered any great losses for Kerry. The question is: did Chaney fix the damn, or is he just standing there with his finger in a hole?
