Those
Missing Images
04.24.02
I just figured out a way to describe to others just how incredibly special
certain people are to me. Allow me to share...
Lights flicker REALLY fast, but our eyes aren't fast enough to see the blinking.
Our brains fill in the missing spaces. Like animation, or film. There are 30
or 24 frames, still images, depending on the media, that go past your eyes each
second. Our brain fills in the space between each image, making them look fluid
and constantly moving. Now that the basic science lesson is done, I'll explain
how this connects with my very special people.
Looking at someone around you, realize that there are tiny images that you're
missing... those milliseconds there the light flickers and doesn't light your
subject. Or if it's being filmed, there are those split-second images that AREN'T
captured on film, or that AREN'T projected for you to see.
Now imagine that all the people that go in and out of your life, all the events
you witness or live through and pass on, all the everything you see and know...
they're all a collection of those images you see when the light is on, or what
the film is showing. Now imagine seeing one of those images that you don't get
to see, that you never catch, that your brain fills in for you. Imagine seeing
that natural, beautiful missing image for once. It's that rare, that incredible.
Image how much you would love and cherish those missing images.
My special people are those missing images.
They are that beautiful, that rare, that incredible.
And they mean that much to me.
