Seeing and Sensing Ghosts

I posted on a bulletin board about being able to sense the presence of ghosts and spirits and the like. Afterwards, someone wrote and asked me how to learn to be able to do that, and this was my response to her:

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to teach someone. She (my ex- that was teaching me random psychic stuff) was never able to teach me to see them. She could, very well. But she couldn't sense them very well. That's something that's easier for me. It's natural. Something I don't think about.

But I'll tell you what I can...

The first step to doing anything is believing that you can. "Those who think they can and those that think they can't are both right." So you've got to believe. Believe that ghosts exist, believe that you can feel them, believe that you can see them. Step one.

Step two: remember that ghosts don't usually LIKE to be seen. Spirits (as the difference that I've been told and the way I laid them out in my post) don't know they're dead, so they kinda expect to be seen. Ghosts would rather not be in most cases. They're used to not being able to be seen. It's kinda like inBeetlejuice... most people CAN'T see ghosts. So they get used to that. So even if you DO learn to see them, sometimes it's not easy.

Step three: you know in the Star Wars movies, the whole thing about the Force? How there's an energy that runs through all living things that guides us, etc.? Well, that's kinda true. And you've got to believe in that. Ghosts are just energy. There's nothing physical about them. They're energy. They're the energy that is inside everyone, and that flows form everyone. This energy is everywhere. It's that thickness that you feel in the air in tense situations. Everyone's shooting off energy at once. It's that collective feeling that groups of people get that makes them all feel the same. So you need to start feeling that energy. Meditate. Concentrate on not concentrating. Just feel. Let go of your body and just feel the energy. This is crucial in ANY psychic activity. Psychics get their premonitions from that energy, they're just more in tuned to it. Ever get "women's intuition"? Where do you think it comes from? Ever just get "one of those feelings" and it turns out that you were right? Same thing. Just take the time to start getting in tune with the energy around you. When you get used to how it feels to be tied in to it, you'll be quicker to get in tune with it when you need to.

Step four: When you get in tune with the energy, you'll want to stay that way... always. And THAT'S when you start to sense things. You'll sense changes in your surroundings. I'm sure you've had that feeling that someone was coming up behind you, even though you never saw or heard them. The difference here is that there is no BODY there. But there is someONE there. It really feels the same way it does when you're in the room with someone living and real. There's someone there, except that most people can't see them, or feel them, and wouldn't want to anyways. But you will, and you'll understand what it is.

... Listen, I was serious on the post about there being a lot of nasty shit out there. Be careful. Especially when you're learning. Imagine opening up the door to a room, looking for a friend. And maybe your friend is in there. But maybe there are a lot of nasty folk in there too. If you're not strong enough to close the door, and hold it closed, they can get through. Some things out there LIKE to fuck with people who can tell they're being fucked with, but don't know enough to be able to stop it. Most of them can't hurt you in any way, but you'll be scared enough to think they can. And like in ANY situation, if you're too scared, you can end up hurting yourself.

I'm still not strong enough to keep some things away. I still get haunted by things at night sometimes. Not as bad as I did in my old house, but it still happens sometimes. And it's scary as hell. And sometimes I end up kicking the air, or trying to wrap some invisible creature up in my blankets to keep it from getting out, or jumping out of my bed and out of the room and having to turn the TV on to be able to sleep again.

I'm not saying all this to scare you off. Being tied in to the energy around you has great benefits. I just want you to know the hazards too.
